The Nutrition Drive for Healthy Diet Initiative (NDDI), a registered non-governmental organization,
in partnership with the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) is pleased to announce the 2026 NSN
Emerging Scientist Awards.
Award Purpose: The Emerging Nutrition Scientist Awards aim to recognize and encourage
outstanding research contributions by young scientists in the field of nutrition in Nigeria.
Objectives:
- Promote excellence in nutrition research among young scientists.
- Foster innovation and creativity in addressing nutrition-related challenges.
- Strengthen the scholarly competencies of early-career nutrition professionals.
Award Details: - Title: Emerging Nutrition Scientist Awards
- Prize: ₦200,000 and recognition at the NSN conference for the top two awardees.
Eligibility Criteria: - Must be a member of the NSN with up-to-date financial dues.
- Must be a current graduate student or within 3 years of obtaining their PhD or MSc
degree, respectively. - Must be 40 years of age or younger.
- Must be resident in Nigeria.
Submission Procedure:
Interested applicants are required to submit the following documents to the NSN designated email:

- Two Letters of Recommendation: one from the applicant’s NSN State Chapter Chairperson and
one from the applicant’s current work or institutional supervisor. - Nationally recognized document or ID with birthdate details
- Institutional ID or certificate indicating current graduate studies registration or MSc or PhD
graduation (within the last 3 years). - Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailed and updated CV (see template below).
- Personal Statement: A comprehensive personal statement (maximum of 2 pages), outlining the
applicant’s accomplishments in nutrition research, leadership roles, and future career aspirations. - Proof of Membership: Evidence of current NSN membership with up-to-date financial dues.
