History

The Nutrition Society of Nigeria is a professional, non-governmental association founded in 1963 at the University of Ibadan. Her membership cuts across various disciplines: Nutrition, Physiology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Agriculture, Food Science & Technology, Home Economics, and Public health. The Nutrition Society of Nigeria is the umbrella body for Nutritionists in Nigeria. Our annual conference provides a common forum for Nutritionists and colleagues in related disciplines to interact and deliberate on how to overcome the various food, health, and nutritional challenges in our society that militate against sustainable human capacity development and national growth development.
The annual scientific meeting and conference is an event that brings Nutritionists, Dieticians, other health professionals, Development Partners, and relevant stakeholders, industries, agencies, and organizations together to share ideas, discuss burning issues and proffer solutions to nutrition-related issues in health, agriculture, education and other sectors in Nigeria and beyond. Our conference also helps to develop healthy and positive collaborations among members and establish collaborations and networks between organizations while fostering working relationships and promoting education among its members.
