The 55" Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) was held at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with the theme “Advancing Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) in Nigeria: Innovations and Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Impact from 14 to 19" September 2025.

The Nigerian Society for Nutrition (NSN) joined the global nutrition community at the 23rd International Congress of Nutrition (IUNS-ICN 2025), held from 24–29 August 2025 at the Palais des Congrès, Paris, France.

Abia State Government extends maternity leave to six months

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved an extension of maternity leave for nursing mothers in the state civil service from 16 weeks to six months.

NSN Katsina State Chapter, Holds Seminar and Paper Presentation on Breastfeeding and Maternal Nutrition at General Hospital, Katsina.

The event, which was held in Katsina metropolis, focused especially on sensitizing people to the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for infants during the first six months after birth, as well as the need to provide adequate nutrition for pregnant women. Stakeholders in various health sectors expressed serious concern about how failure to adhere to these principles has led to the spread of malnutrition, particularly in rural areas of Katsina State.
