The Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), Katsina State Chapter, paid an advocacy visit and courtesy call to the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCA) on Friday, March 6, 2026.
During the visit, the NSN delegation commended the Executive Secretary for his dedication, exemplary leadership, and resilience, which have contributed to a significant reduction in the prevalence of childhood malnutrition in the state.
The meeting was attended by 15 participants, including members of the NSN Katsina State Chapter and representatives of the SPHCA.
The team also briefed the agency on the upcoming NSN Katsina State Chapter Annual Workshop and General Meeting, themed “The Role of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Healthcare System.” They highlighted the objectives and expected outcomes of the event and sought the agency’s support and collaboration toward ensuring a successful program.
In his response, the Executive Secretary provided an overview of the structure and operations of the SPHCA, emphasizing key interventions implemented by the State Government including financial, human resource, and infrastructural support that have contributed to improvements in nutrition outcomes. He also highlighted several factors associated with childhood malnutrition in the state.
The Executive Secretary expressed his commitment to supporting the NSN Katsina State Chapter, assuring the delegation of the agency’s support for the first Annual Workshop and General Meeting.
