The Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), Anambra State Chapter, actively participated in the flag-off ceremony of the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week (WBW), held at the Neni LGA Secretariat. The event brought together key stakeholders in maternal and child health to promote optimal breastfeeding practices in alignment with the year’s global theme: “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.”
NSN Anambra State Chapter was duly represented by the following executive members:

Dr. Nneka Mefoh delivered a lecture emphasizing the important role of exclusive breastfeeding in improving child growth, and development. She also highlighted the importance of adequate nutrition not only for lactating mothers but across all life stages, particularly for adolescent girls and women of reproductive age, as a long-term strategy to prevent malnutrition and adverse birth outcomes.
The event served as an important platform for nutrition advocacy and stakeholder engagement, reinforcing the Society’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable nutrition support systems across Anambra State.
