The Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) Kano State Chapter, in collaboration with key partners, commemorated World Diabetes Day 2025 with a series of impactful activities aimed at raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting community members to adopt healthier lifestyles. The events spanned 14th–17th November 2025, engaging diverse audiences through webinars, public lectures, and community outreach. The activities include:
14th November 2025 – Live webinar: A virtual webinar was hosted on Google Meet to mark the official World Diabetes Day. The session focused on the theme “Diabetes and Well-Being.”
Speakers included: Dr. Jamila Lawal and Folashade Babatunde, RD.
The webinar provided evidence-based insights on diabetes prevention, lifestyle modification, stress management, and the importance of supportive environments for individuals living with diabetes. Participants were encouraged to adopt healthy habits and engage in routine screening.
15th November 2025 – Public Lectures at Emirate College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kano: The second day featured a public lecture centered on “Diabetes and Well-Being,” with a special emphasis on Diabetes and the Workplace.

This program was hosted by NutCare for Healthy Society in partnership with, Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) Kano State Chapter, Gold Dietary, and Institute for Dietetics in Nigeria, BUK Alumni for Nutrition and Dietetics Students (BANDS) and Fight Malnutrition Initiative.
16th November 2025 – Community Outreach at Panda Community, Albasu LGA: A community outreach was conducted at Panda Community in Albasu LGA attracting about 300 participants. The outreach was designed to bring essential health services closer to rural populations.
Activities included:
i. Blood pressure checks and blood sugar screening.
ii. Nutrition counseling for individuals living with diabetes.
iii. Free counseling for people at risk of developing diabetes.
iv. Distribution of 250 packs of kunu (a millet-based, high-fiber food) and other nutritious foods.

The celebration highlighted strong collaboration, extensive community engagement, and impactful health education across Kano State.
