NSN Bauchi State Chapter Celebrates World Food Day 2025

In celebration of World Food Day 2025, themed “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future,” the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), Bauchi State Chapter, organized an impactful event aimed at promoting nutrition education and awareness among secondary school students in the state.
The event featured a range of interactive and educational activities designed to inspire students toward healthier food choices and deeper interest in nutrition.

Key Activities Included:

  1. Nutrition Awareness Talk: Mrs. Salamatu Bello, a registered dietitian and member of the NSN Bauchi Chapter, delivered an enlightening talk on the importance of balanced diets, the role of nutrition in health and academic performance, and the need to adopt sustainable eating habits.
  2. Food Demonstration: Students participated in a practical cooking session where facilitators showcased how to prepare affordable and nutritious meals using locally available ingredients.
  3. Quiz and Drawing Competitions: These lively contests tested and enhanced students’ understanding of nutrition concepts. Group B emerged as the overall winner in both the oral quiz and drawing categories, demonstrating remarkable knowledge, creativity, and teamwork. Prizes were awarded to recognize their excellence.

The event was graced by representatives from partner organizations, including Cascade, Alheri A.Y Foundation, and the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, whose participation highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing nutrition education and food security initiatives.

Through these activities, the NSN Bauchi State Chapter successfully raised awareness about the critical role of nutrition among young people, fostering a culture of healthy eating and greater appreciation for nutrition-focused careers. The Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining such initiatives in alignment with global efforts toward a healthier, food-secure future for all.
