NSN Lagos State Chapter Celebrates World Food Day 2025

The World Food Day 2025 Webinar organized by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), Lagos Chapter, was held on Thursday, 16th October 2025, at 1:00 PM. The event took place virtually via Google Meet, allowing participants to join from within Lagos, other parts of Nigeria, and the diaspora.
The webinar focused on the World Food Day 2025 theme: “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.” The engaging and insightful session featured two distinguished speakers and a moderator:

  • Dr. Chioma Emma-Nwachukwu – Presentation on “Your Food, Your Medicine.”
  • Prof. Tosin Adu – Presentation on “Food Hygiene.”
  • Mr. Blessing Oni – Moderator of the session.
    The session featured interactive discussions, live Q&A segments, and participant engagement on key topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and food systems as essential pillars of sustainable health.
    The event was well attended by members of the NSN Lagos Chapter, nutritionists, dietitians, students, healthcare professionals, and members of the public interested in food and nutrition. Participants joined from different regions of Nigeria and abroad, reflecting the Society’s growing virtual engagement and strong interest in the World Food Day theme.
    Notably, the former Director General of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO), Prof. Gloria Elemo, graced the event, alongside the current Lagos State Nutrition Officer, Mrs. Taiwo Fadairo, and the Chairman, NSNLagos, Collins Akanno, whose presence further highlighted the significance of the occasion.

The feedback underscored recognition of the NSN Lagos Chapter’s commitment to promoting public nutrition awareness and continuing education through impactful virtual engagements.
    Following the success of the webinar, the Lagos Chapter plans to extend the impact of the World Food Day celebration by organizing:
  • Market Outreach on Nutrition and Food Handling in selected markets across Lagos State.
  • Nutrition and Food Safety Awareness Sessions in Antenatal Clinics, emphasizing maternal and child nutrition, as well as practical hygiene practices
