Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced the reinstatement of His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
Mohammed Sanusi II, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, began his reign as the Emir of Kano on 8th June, 2014 before being deposed in March 2020 by the then governor of the state.
On Thursday, 23rd May, 2024, the State House of Assembly passed an amended law instructing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to restore the Kano Emirate System to its pre-December 5, 2019, status, which led to Sanusi being reappointed as Emir. The House dissolved the five emirates created by former Governor Ganduje. The 2019 law was originally amended amid tensions between then-Governor Ganduje and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, resulting in the division of the Kano Emirate. The recent legislative action has reversed those changes, consolidating the emirate system.
The entire members of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria hereby rejoice with His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi II, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, on his reinstatement as the Emir of Kano.
