2025 Cancer and Nutrition Epidemiology in Africa Grant Writing Course

The cancer and nutrition epidemiology in Africa grant writing course is an intensive seven-week program designed to assist African researchers with developing effective/eligible grant proposals related to nutrition and cancer in Africa.
This course is aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty members, or other research professionals working in nutrition and/or cancer epidemiology-related fields across Africa.
Participants will learn how to design, plan and review studies used in observational epidemiology and public health and prepare and review grant applications.
The course will provide in-depth instruction, including mentoring, videos, exercises, resources, and examples.
Course Description: The Cancer and Nutrition Epidemiology in Africa Grant Writing Course will teach participants how to write a clear, concise and attractive grant proposal that meets the requirements of funding agencies.
Course objectives:

  • Write a concise and appealing proposal • Write in a form that meets the requirements of funding agencies • Learn about your strengths and weaknesses through the course instructor’s correcting and editing of your proposal • Learn to critically read and edit colleagues’ proposals
    Eligibility Criteria:
    Minimum Master’s Degree in nutrition, cancer or epidemiology-related subject English language profi ciency Currently working in Nutrition and/or Cancer-related fi eld in Africa
    Course Content:
  • Design an observational epidemiological study • Work through the process of a grant application • Critically review a research proposal • Respond to reviewers’ comments
    Course Dates: 1st September – 14th November, 2025 (10 weeks)
    Cost: Admission fee: 25 GBP ($30)
    Tuition fee : 5000 GBP
    Note: Tuition waivers will be available to selected applicants upon review of their commitment statement
