Guidelines for the Submission of Extended Abstract for Presentation at the Annual General
Meeting (AGM) and Scientific Conference (SC) of NSN
1. Extended abstract should be in line with the theme and sub-themes of the scientific conference.
2. The abstract should be typed in a Microsoft Word document of not more than 2 pages of A4 paper size.
3. Line spacing should be 1.5 points but single (1.0) line spacing can be used for tables if necessary.
4. Times New Roman and font size 12 should be used.
5. The page margins should be set at Normal (Top = 2.35cm, Bottom = 2.54cm, Left = 2.54cm and
Right = 2.54cm).
The extended abstract should be written using the following outline:
Theme/sub-theme: Indicate the conference Theme or sub-theme your abstract is addressing.
Title: State the title of the paper.
Name of Author(s): State the Surname, Initials of the author(s).
Affiliation of Author(s): State the Name of Organization/Institution of the author(s)
Email and phone number of the corresponding author
Keywords: Provide a maximum of four (4) keywords
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTİVES:
This section should contain a brief background and objective of the study to show the gap in the knowledge that the author(s) seeks to fill.
MATERIALS AND METHOD:
The methodology of the study must be clearly stated.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
Results should be briefly described and presented in figures, tables, etc.
A brief discussion on the implications of the results should be provided.
A maximum of two (2) tables and/or figures are allowed.
Table(s) should be presented using the format shown below:
Table 1: Title of the table
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATİON(S):
Conclusion based on the results of the study should be stated. Brief recommendation(s) may be given
based on the conclusion.
REFERENCES
A maximum of 5 references should be cited in numerical order (in parenthesis) in the text and listed in
the same numerical order in the Reference section according to the format specified in the Nigerian
Journal of Nutritional Sciences.
